In a typography class project we were tasked with designing Gratuitous Type Magazine Covers. This project was created with different type treatments and analyzing how they work in a composition with different shapes, forms as well as colors choices.
The first cover design was more experimental using a simple color palette ad adding depth with opacity and texture to make the viewer more visually active.
The second cover design uses a typeface that I created using Fontstruct. I decided to use negative space in order to make the viewer concentrate on the font design itself. The rules and lines guide the viewer through the composition while referencing the idea of how typefaces are constructed using a grid system.
